Hello,
I am Moitreyee Chowdhury
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist · Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
LMFT 121934 · LPCC 9438
Founder & Clinical Director
I grew up in India. Art came first: a Fine Arts degree in Delhi, then teaching it, writing poetry, building puppets and designing stages in Frankfurt. I learned German along the way. I’ve crossed continents more than once, and never fully left any of them.
I believe we carry everything. Our own story, our ancestors’, the one still unfolding. Joy and grief together. The country we left, living inside the one we live in now. I came to therapy already understanding this, not from a textbook, but from a life that refused to be tidy.
Before founding Leela, I worked in community mental health, intensive outpatient care, hospital settings, and the graduate classroom. I named the practice for a reason. लीला: forever creating. All of it held. All of it welcome.
I work with adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, and OCD, with particular depth in South Asian and immigrant communities: intergenerational conflict, acculturation stress, intercultural relationships, the experience of living between cultures. I also work with life transitions, identity, grief, burnout, and perinatal mental health. I’m not afraid of what you’re carrying.
